Electronic assessment portfolios

on September 22, 2012

This week I used my Ipad to video conferece with my students while they worked on their Math Journal question. My students really enjoyed being recorded while they shared their understanding of repeating patterns and attributes. It made me think about how valuable it would be if I could create an electronic assessment portfolio for each student. How powerful would that be at Parent Teacher Interviews…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIompw4RPTs&feature=youtube_gdata_player

    Hey Sarah,
Electronic Assessment Portfolios sound like a great idea! We’ll have to delve deeper into that option. I couldn’t view your video because when I copied the url and pasted it into a tab, it came up as ‘Private Video’.

Great idea Sarah! Electronic Assessment Portfolios would be so valuable to not only you, the classroom teacher, as it would provide a means to review and analyze further, but to parents as well as supportive evidence of their child’s conceptual understanding. Would you have a rubric that would accompany the video?

This would be a good use of the student usb drives. They could have a whole portfolio when they leave NMES and head to middle school!
